Citrullus lanatus
Slightly elongated, light green melons about 25 cm (10″) in diameter by 30 cm (12″) long with traditional darker green stripes are produced by this fusarium and anthracnose tolerant variety. The fruit averages a hefty 9 kg (20 lbs.) and is dark red in colour with a crisp texture and very sweet flavour.
How to Grow
Very similar to cantaloupe and muskmelon. Seeds require 5-10 days at a soil temperature of 24 C (75 F) to germinate any lower and germination will be inhibited. Sow 6-8 seeds per hill, 12 mm (1/2″) deep in hills spaced 1.8-2.4 m (6-8′) from each other. Thin to 3-4 plants per hill. Never let the plants lack for water.
