Gardener’s Notes: Plant in late spring, only when soil is warm and night temps are above 55F(13C). Corn needs full sun and fertile soil. For best pollination, plant in blocks of at least 4 shorter rows rather than fewer long rows. Thin seedlings to stand 1 foot apart. Sow more seeds two weeks later to have successive harvests. Water regularly and fertilize once per month. Harvest filled out ears when silks turn brown and feel dry.Â
