Forms loose romaine head at maturity but can be picked young. Makes an outrage of red in your salad mix. A winner.
Can be started in early spring and again in the fall. Sow seed thinly in flats or directly into the garden in moist rich soil. Barely cover with find soil or compost and firm the surface. Keep bed evenly moist to ensure germintation. Make successive plantings up to mid-June and again in August for fall crops. Gradually thin feelings to 8 inches apart for looseleaf and 12 inches apart for heading lettuce. Â
