Lettuce Outrageous Red – Ontario Seed Company
Lactuca sativa
Bright magenta red foliage that beats all the others. Upright growth habit with medium to large open heads and deeply lobed leaves. Slow to bolt in summer heat and holds its mild, non-bitter taste. This makes a great baby leaf variety to add to your salads.

Growing Instructions:
Sow as soon as soil can be worked in Spring, then every two weeks thereafter for continuous supply. Sow about 3mm (1/8in) deep in rows 45cm (18in) apart. An even supply of moisture during the entire growth period is imperative for success. Grows best in organic well-drained soil in a sunny location. Harvest leaf lettuce by cutting leaves from the main stem at least 2.5cm (1in) above the base. This will allow new leaves to sprout. To harvest head lettuce, cut the head off at the base just below the lowest leaves. Leaves become bitter once the lettuce bolts (starts to produce a rapidly growing flower stem).Â
