Early White Vienna Kohlrabi has white flesh with very smooth light green skin. When eaten raw it has a delicious flavor similar to water chestnuts. When cooked, it has a mildly sweet, turnip-like flavor. For ultimate flavor and tenderness, harvest when bulbs are about 5 cm (2″) in diameter.

Preparation Ideas: Peel and add cut chunks to soups and stews.
Start indoors in a sunny location 6 weeks before the ground can be worked. Or, sow directly in garden rows placing one seed every 3 inches. When plants are 3 inches tall, thin to 6 inches apart.

Do not plant with strawberries, tomatoes or pole beans.
