Kale Lacinato – Ontario Seed Company
Brassica oleracea
A rather privative looking kale with strap-like, crinkled blue-green leaves 7.5cm (3″) wide by 25cm (10″) long. Plants can grow to 1m (39″) in height. Baby greens can be harvested from 30 days after planting with full size savoyed leaves taking up to 60 days. Often noted as Dinosaur Kale, Lacinato has been around since at least 1800.

How to Grow
Sow seed directly outdoors 1cm (1/2″) deep in early spring or from June to early July in rows 60cm (24″) apart. Thin seedlings to 30cm (12″) apart. Kale is very cold tolerant and develops its best flavor after the fall frosts.
