Eggplant Black Beauty – Mr. Fothergill’s Seeds
Solanum melongena
A favourite in Mediterranean cooking. Best grown in a greenhouse or polytunnel. Good source of dietary fiber. This old variety of eggplant was introduced on the market around the 1910s. It produces abundant and early dark veiled fruits, pear-shaped, measuring about 15 cm.
How To Grow |
Sow 6mm (quarter-inch) deep in seed tray or punnet, in seed raising mix or compost. Keep moist. Transfer to final position 60-75cm (2-2.5ft) apart. Use a short stake in exposed areas. Can be sown direct if required. Suitable for pots. |
