There are few annuals that will grow as easily or abundantly in shady areas. Plants are grown for their exotic foliage, which comes in a variety of bold colors, including multihued leaf patterns. Plants are ideal in beds, borders, mass plantings or containers. They also make brilliant house plants. Keep plants moist, but avoid wetting foliage in heat of the day. Pinch out lead shoots to encourage side branches.
