Gardener’s Notes: Sow directly in the garden in spring when night temperatures stay above 50F (10C). Plant 1/2 inch deep in a well-drained soil, spacing seeds 4 inches apart. When seedlings are large enough to handle, thin to 10-12 inches apart. Keep well watered when young; mature plants can handle hot and dry conditions. Plants branch and bloom freely and don’t require staking.
