Scarlet Emperor runner bean seeds produce plants that have large clusters of beautiful scarlet flowers. Rapid, vigorous growth make the classic Scarlet Emperor an ideal choice for screens, trellises, and balconies, and they are highly attractive to hummingbirds. Its masses of long pods are tender and tasty when smaller. The pods just keep coming as long as the plants are carefully picked. Undisturbed roots may overwinter and re-grow the next May or June in warm winter areas. Seeds are black & purple. Grow Scarlet Emperor up a tall, strong trellis, and it will reach 3m (10′) or higher in no time.
