Gardener’s Notes: Peppers need 75-80F (24-27C)to germinate. Start indoors 6 weeks before outdoor temperatures reach 50F (10C). In cold climates, start 6-8 weeks before last frost. Grow in warm sunny window or under plant lights. Transplant into fertile, well-drained soil when temperatures are above 55F (13C). Fertilize monthly. Full-sized peppers can be picked green, but are much sweeter and nutritious if left to mature to orange.
